Category: Animal Books

Sarah A. Bowen is an animal chaplain and award-winning spirituality writer. She is a columnist for Spirituality & Health Magazine, and her work has also appeared in Tricycle: The Buddhist Review, Elephant Journal, mindbodygreen, and other media, as well as a wide range of podcasts. She is the program director of the Animal Chaplaincy Training Program at Compassion Consortium and is a Dean at One Spirit Interfaith Seminary in New York City. Sarah offers workshops on both modern spirituality and interspecies spirituality, works with humans around animal grief/loss, and advocates for exploited and endangered species within both religious and secular contexts. You can often find her huddled over wildlife that has been struck by cars, giving each animal a sacred sendoff. She is a cofounder of Compassion Consortium, the first interfaith, interspiritual, and interspecies faith community. Sarah holds a BA in Human Ecology and an MA in Religious Studies, and is joyfully engaged in postgraduate research in Humane Religious Studies and Anthrozoology.
